Smartphones are more popular than ever and every website, service, or business worth their salt has an app. unfortunately it’s not enough to just develop an app. You need to create something promising and viable to make it worth people’s time. Here are the top five trends by Outsourcing mobile development company Binariks for mobile apps in 2017.

  1. The Rise of Location-Based Services Continues

With the ease and accessibility of GPS in smartphones there is a greater importance placed on location-based services (LBS) that provide users with information based on where they are. LBS apps including mapping, retail offers, security, travel, navigation and tourism. The big tech groups have already begun making moves in LBS. The only downside to these services is how battery draining they are, so this is one area they will improve in 2017.

  1. Augmented Reality

Augmented reality apps were once considered a gimmick but now these apps are becoming more useful. If you include wearables you can get much more functionality out of augmented reality too. For example you can get a lot of use out of vocal recognition augmented reality with messenger apps. So if someone were to send a message featuring a particular keyword it could trigger a related action, such as opening a ride sharing app with the word “cab” or opening a calendar application with the word “coffee”.

  1. Android Instant Apps

Google announced recently that they would be launching Instant Apps that allow apps to open instantly. These apps don’t even need to be downloaded; they just open instantly. Apps that only run when needed could change the face of the app industry. Imaging searching for a service you need and then running an app instantly without having to download it or use up precious data and memory space. They aren’t perfectly built but they are perfect when you want something quickly and easily.

  1. Embedded AI

Imagine if there was a picture that changed as your mood and situation changed. As more developers integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning into apps, this could lead to a huge change in the industry. While it’s not that difficult to create a photo filter we could soon see apps use what they know about the user and their location to alter what they show. This is known as a Neural Network and it could soon enter the world of everyday devices as well as data centers.

  1. Internet of Things Integration

The Internet of Things is going through quite the boom right now and so apps need to integrate it sooner rather than later. The IoT is already being embraced by the health, education, automobile, smart home and security industry and you need to consider it one of the top trends of 2017. This means creating a complex mobile platform and infrastructure designed to allow all devices to communicate and share the same data. Data analytics is another key issue as all of this data needs to be quickly and efficiently accessed.

When it comes right down to it for an app to succeed the most important thing is creating a smoother user experience. This will be even more important in 2017. Mobile app developers must have good design skills and be in touch with their customers. This means creating apps with rich media. We’re looking forward to seeing what comes next in this ever-expanding market in 2017.
